Cold process soap making is very similar to cooking/baking with a little background of chemistry. Basic cold process soap making is a mixture of caustic lye solution (sodium hydroxide in distilled water) and blends of hard and liquid oils blended together until it all becomes emulsified into a batter like consistency. It is then poured into a mold and left to saponify and harden for 24 hours before it can be unmolded and cut into soap bars. Soaps are then cured for 4-6 weeks before use for a mild and longer lasting bar.

Select ingredients I use in my soap making process all have a specific purpose for the end user. Organic virgin Shea Butter is incorporated into all my soaps due to it’s high levels of vitamin A, C, and E. These vitamins are known to regenerate, renew, and moisturize the skin which can help eliminate and prevent premature wrinkles and blemishes. The main qualities I aim to reach is to invoke the senses and it’s performance on the skin. With the skin being our first line of defense, it’s important to maintain a healthy and strong body by nourishing and replenishing the skin barrier with quality ingredients.
